From simple beginnings... As a freelance illustrator I do a lot of reading, in my job its a brief, manuscript or story, something I need to adapt and make visual. I need to understand what I’ve got in front of me in order to visualise what the text is telling me and also deduce to mine the story for extra details.
I’ve broken down an illustration created for Twisty tales, showing the pencil draft that was sent and approved by the client and the steps taken to make it a finished artwork. You’ll see the how I layered the artwork using the draft as a guide, adding colour and hand created textures to complete the scene.
